Tagged!!!
Ok I have been tagged by Amrita... tagged...for slow learners (like me) tagged means...I have to write 5 things about myself that I like. Erm...well, quite interesting. How funny that of all the times, you find it difficult to praise yourself...just when you are told to!!!
Ok...but I am mustering my courage and writing:
1) I love my hair, yeah, the lovely curls on my head are standing since the day I was born. I tried with all the combs in the world but they bend to no side. Even if I put my hair in a blower they do not bend. Yeah they do bend for a while when I put on a gel, but after a few hours they are back.
2) I love the fact that I have always blessed with people I love, be it my parents, my girlfriend or my siblings. They all manage to bear me around them.
3) I love my habit of reading, oh yes, I do and no I just don't read, I scan the information I like, pages and pages of them and store them in a secret folder called 'Subrosa' on my computer. That can be the last fight between Harry and Voldemort or even the new paper cutting on Al - Kaida (yes I scanned it) I have a huge collection now. :)
4) I love my habit of eating, my stomach literally digests anything except spinach (kinda reverse popeye isn't it?). Except green vegetable, I can eat anything at anytime.
5) I love my cartoons, they keep me alive and keep the child in me alive. So whenever I am even sitting on a client call, you will see me sketching there. The toon tells me to keep my cool and my hand guides my emotions to flow out. That really solves all my problems and I have a peaceful moments.
So there you go... I love those things about me and that keeps me separated from the crowd.
Ok, Now I am supposed to Tagg 5 people???
Roshmi Sinha: I want to hear more from you.

Thank you IndiBlogger and my friends...
What is one thing you hate about your blog??? its when it gives out radiant energy outside. Well, I hated the saffron color since the day I saw it...but my first target was to use Indian tri colors to design the blog. Now such idiot ideas are out, and after a lot of pursuation I started modifing the design of the blog.
You see I have particularly designed this blog, here I can modify my header anytime I want... a kinda like google doodle idea. Sidoscope header logo will change accordingly.
Now i am alone out here...so i won't change it for all holidays, but special ocasions. Like now...
IndiBlogger ranked me 67 out of 100...not bad, considering after 2 years of blogging I get two good friends, Mukund and Adesh who regularly visit my blog.
Well, I never knew a blogger world existed outside. I just loyally kept on posting my blog and hoping that someday someone will visit it. But hey now people are actually seeing it and I get a ranking too...woah, that calls for a celebration.
And lo and behold... my new cooled down version of SidoScope, with a brand new Logo.. The design and theme also matches with the weather outside. Its raining in Pune as I write this post, and for once i am with my parents after 9 months, so the blue theme. To represent rainy day and happy mood. Now my next modification will be using the available space on sides.. working on it.
I hope to post more and keep on borrowing ideas from others blogs as well, do tell me how does my new logo work does???
P.s. Hey do you want a cool logo for your blog? I can help you...keep following.. ;)

Kitchen Mayhem
One of the key benefits of bachelor hood are that you can lie in bed for hours and hours watching some awesome flick on WB (my favorites nowadays) and HBO (My old favorite) without doing anything. But there comes a time when God decides to punish you and you get a call in middle of 'Dirty Harry' from your girl friend, that she is coming to your house for lunch!!!!
Oh man, oh man, oh man....now, too reluctantly you have to get up. Try a feeble attempt in cleaning up the room, which fails in vain. C'mon, how will I know where the bourbon packet I eat have fallen? I mean, do I have to pick them up every time I eat???
Well, if you are alone in the room Julius Maggi's invention(Maggie noodles) is enough for you to survive the harsh day, but what do you do when your girlfriend wants to visit you? And oh yes, do I need to mention that do whatever, she will come and dust your cushions and show the face of disgust, 'क्या हाल किया है रूम का??' (What is the state of room you live???)
So, apparently recently I went through all the trauma of having Dipu in my room for lunch and trying to cook a not-so-delicious-but-life-saver meal!!!!
Well, to be frank my entry into kitchen is limited to life-saving items like Tea, Coffee, Maggie Noodles and sometimes Egg omelette (Which I have never managed to make properly and end up making a scrambled egg, I call it special burji to hide the shame)
So what do I do to please Dipu in the middle of the day?
Tan ta da....Google Devta to the rescue and lo an behold, in the .13 Second a idea crops in my mind, on the .19 Second I open Google and type, 'Bachelor Recipe' and it returns me 842,000 options in .21 Sec to impress my girlfriend.
Google devta kii jay ho!!!!
But hey, the recipe is far from saving my day, its too complex for a simple man to understand. So, neighbor auntiji to the rescue...tan ta da...
I 'cooked', yeah I cooked a decent lunch!!! heh heh heh...
Ok, don't inquire at my neighbor, Aunty Ji, she will say she cooked that day but she just helped me ok. I did all the important stuff like buying paneer and mutter, she just did the rest.
So for all my pals out here, I am adding up a bonus feature for you...my secret recipe for paneer mutter, hand cooked and known to impress girlfriends, see how beneficial it is to follow up my blog!!!
(Psst. I am worst cook, so i have juiced up the recipe a bit. Try at your own risk...)
- Cut paneer into cubes and then fry them till they are golden brown in 3 TBS oil. (psst. You can as well eat them now, they taste awesome, sacchi)
- In the same Pan with about 2 TBS oil remaining, put 1 tsp of cumin seed and put finely chopped onions..and two green chillis sliced in halves(for flavor)
- When the onions are transparent, added 4 cloves garlic and half inch ginger both crushed together..
- Now add one potato cut into half inch cubes, and half a cup of mutter, and one tomato finely chopped.
- Add half tsp of cumin powder, 1 tsp coriander seed powder, half tsp Chilli powder, and turmeric to your measurement-half tsp should do. (The regular garnish thing, don't put the chilli powder fingers in your eyes, it pains)
- Cover and cook till potatoes are done in low heat. (I tried to keep flame low and it extinguished so try medium flame)
- Add the paneer and fry together for 5 minutes, add salt.
- Add one and half cup of boiling water.
- When gravy becomes thick, garnish with coriander/cilantro.
- Secret move: Grate cheese on top and serve.
Thank you Larry, Thank you Sergei, Thank you Google and thank you Auntyji, without you I could not get the prize that day. (Ok, not an award wining recipe or even Tarla Dalal quality, but hey you should have seen the smile on Dipu's face and the prize I got....maaamia!!!!)
On an ending note, she was happy and she also did not find the beer can deep below my bed, so I was happy. I hope you also have a field day with my super duper chatter mutter panner.
Cheers,
SiD
P.s. Bless me with you comments!!!

Dial 'R' for....

Every where you go, there is one key word to every problem in the world right now, 'Recession', there is no funding. No projects. People are losing jobs day in and out.
People are saving money, family planning, job saving and trying to curb the monster called recession.
No wonder birth-control pills and condoms are have a field day, no one wants a family now. If by some unlucky chance a family is created, you will see the father frustrated and miserable over the mistake of his life.
The miserable state in which software companies are treating their employees is a pity. I see my friend, a class topper and having 1.6 years in development experience, now working in a KPO with 1/3rd salary cut. Same time, few other good guys and girls are sitting in the house doing nothing!!!!
Does it really matter to have experience in software industry? Nowadays knowledge is readily available, with google built in with ObjectDock and Firefox. So is it really important to have experience in software industry?
Why after 3 years is a person still a fresher? The project manager has an experience of 10 years of godknowswhat??? He used to use COBOL for coding and now we use .net 3.5 and he has no idea what that is, but hey he has experience of 10 years...
All these thought made me think, why am I into software? Because there is good pay? Oh wait, recession has taken care of that, 10% salary cut remember?
Software professionals feel back pain, neck pain, body pain... and all other sorts of pains. On top of that tensions, frustrations, no freedom for what??? Money???
My PM expects me to work 9 hours and more. I feel pity I do not meet Dipu, my GF, for 3-4 days.. and for what???
No idea??
Well, I am in software industry by choice...and now I feel my choice is wrong. Its not too late to pursue my dream. is it??
I am leaving software industry once in for all to enter mass media as a writer or cartoonist. At least tensions will be less.
You can see some of my works as a writer here.
Pray for me that I will succeed and also suggest if I am right?

माँ का लाडला मुसीबत मैं पद गया. (Mothers boy fell in trouble)
While half of the army is busy looking for missing scientist with nuclear secrets, there is one more big issue currently in minds of 'some' people. Section 377 of IPC states that it is criminal to have a same sex marriage!!!Ok...so it is crime to choose your sex partner? Last I heard in civic text books was that India is a democratic country and every citizen has an equal right. So, why does the government want to involve in sexual privacy of people???
They say Indian 'culture' does not support all this.
Right, I will just go in depth about the hindu culture....
Wasn't there a Gay warrior in Mahabharata, Shikhandi, who killed Bhishmapitama?
If I recall correctly Arjun was a Enuch during agyatvas. Oh wait, Mohini, the pratiroop of Lord Vishnu was a 'She'.
Some say gayism and same sex is wrong???
So who decides what is wrong anyway?? Once I had been to a special screening and debate on 'Page-3', the movie, where we debated the things shown in the movie.
One of the best point, a guy said in regards to gayism was, ‘How can you prevent me from having sex with anybody?’ good point, I am just curios? how?? send CAT Commandos in the bed rooms, oh that might give the Gay couple a nice treat!!!!
They will make anti-gay law and people will meet in secret, have unprotected and unethical sex and again spread AIDS.
Doesn’t the government understand this anymore that no-body gives a damm of what laws they make?? The things happening will happen...the only question is...will it be official or unofficial.
So better if they have it official, cos in that way NGO’s can keep a check on the couples and prevent AIDS as well.
Let’s hope the point is well taken...
About the title: Mothers Boy is a metaphor for Gay, as shown in Hindi Movie Dostana.
Oh last point I am straight and am engaged to a girl...but I just am just voicing my opinion against injustice with our fellow Indians...

The Chai-Wala: Chotu
When I was in 11th grade, my dad had a toy shop in the prime location of the city. I used to go there in the evening when dad was busy. There was a small tea-shop in the gali(lane) which served tea to the whole gali. A small boy of 10-11 years used to come around carrying six cup of tea asking if we needed any. Now, the gali being a typical Marathi community gali, there was ample business for him (people tend to drink tea for fun after every 10-15 minutes). If there were any guest in the shop, he would offer them tea.
The boy after his work would come in my shop and ask for power rangers toy. There were many toys in the power rangers series and he would want to see them all.
He handled them carefully and kept them on rack decently. One day I just asked him, why does he look at same toy again and again??
He beemed and said, 'Jab mera pagar hoga na, mere pass bahut paisa hoga, main use khareedonga,' (when i will get my salary, I will have a lot of money, I will buy it)
I smiled back at him, seeing his innocent dreams, it was his moment of happiness, even if he doesn't buy the toy, he used to enjoy the moment that he is going to buy it.
Next month came, due to my exams I did not go to shop and my dad did not entertain such kids. So I could not meet the boy. One day I was just walking towards the shop and saw that boy staring throught the glass window at the display.
I called him inside and showed him the latest power rangers figure. He beemed again, but this time his face saddened.
'Kya hua?' (What happened?) I asked.
'Mera pagar bahut kam hua, aur bapu sara paisa le gaya,' (I have very less salary and my dad took all my money.)
He removed a torn 50 Rs. from his pocket and showed me. The note aparently was saved for the golden moment.
'Isme ayega power rangers?' (Will I get power ranger in this money??) he asked cutely.
There was no power rangers toy in that range and I felt bad for him, i gave him a car to play which was less than fifty and he saved some money as well.
I saw him play with the car for a long week, then one day he vanished out of the gali.
I went to the shop to ask what happened? The shop keeper said that his father was a drunkyard and was taken into police custody for some mishap.
The boy was left with no guardian, so was taken into child care unit.
I never saw the boy again, now 9 months later I've returned to Pune and yesterday I went to the same gali to see if my little friend is back....he is not.
He had a dream. A dream to buy his favorite toy and that 10 year old worked hard to fulfill that dream. I just hope that wherever he is taken, he will grow big and one day I will meet him as a big man who still dreams.
One more point to add there, I asked his name at the shop...but no-one knows, they simply call him chotu (little one).

Moment of Happiness.

In the movie The Pursuit of Happiness, just at the end of the movie, Will Smith walks in the middle of the street looks up into the sky and thinks...'Now, this is happiness' that is his moment of happiness.
If you see around in our lives we all live around many moment of happiness. It varies from smaller happiness, having a pleasent time in toilet, to larger happiness, going out on a date with your girlfriend, but there are some moments that you relieve in your life...they don't return to you...they are just there.
When I was in college, I worked in a cyber cafe to earn my pocket money. I used to establish his network connection, repair a broken PC and the guy used to give me unlimited internet to use (whenever machine is free) and some cash. At the end of the first month I received 300 Rs in cash for the whole month, that was 10 Rs per day. I purchased a chocolate worth Rs 50 and gave it to my GF. Then I bought Chinese dinner for my brother that night, bill Rs. 140, and the rest money went in ice cream for my family.
Some would say I have no sense of saving, my dad mentioned I should save the money for future, but I said no...that was my moment of happiness, I had earned money first time in my life, and I wanted to use it. I know the amount I earned was not much, but I wanted to utilize that amount till the last penny!!!
Since that day, I have made it a tradition to give myself a treat everytime I am happy. I decided to utilize every smaller moment of happiness in my life.
I got Rs. 100 from Jam Magazine to write a article in their paper, I brought a 99 Rs T-shirt from Big Bazaar that night :)
When I joined Fujitsu America, I purchased a big Spider-man graphic novel(worth rs. 90) which I always fancied during college days. Oh yes, I always purchase 2 big graphic novels every time I get my salary.
So when I manage to write a difficult module(in adobe flex) successfully, I went and had two plate chicken momos that day.
I was in happy mood one day and I feasted on a heavy 3 course dinner definitely not affordable for my bachelors life but I enjoyed it.
Small small moments add upto large moment and you end up being happy that day.
My boss has told me to join Pune office since Monday, I brought chicken lolly pop for dinner. Not something big or large, but a simple thing to enjoy the moment.
Some may find it silly or even stupid, but those are my moments, and those I am going to live with everyone of them!!!
On Blog update:
I am just updated by blog to Blogger, draft so have something called reactions as well, so do give your comments, reactions to the post.

Improper Driving!!!
There are only 2 cases nowadays when someone is not driving properly on the street, eighter the person is fumbling with his phone or its a lady!!!!You will find the vehicle wobbling in and out of lanes, sudden brake moment and jumping lanes faster than an eye can blink.
So when the bonnet of my car kissed the bumper of a sedan I felt like killing the driver in front who had suddenly jumped a lane. I was pretty sure it was one of the two cases, to my horror I found it was the combination of both the cases.... a lady was driving the car talking on the phone!!!!
Grrr...
She gracefully got down of the car, glanced at the hit from her sunglasses (all this while having phone on her ears) looked at me and gestured, '1 min'
WTF...I mean my vehicle is damaged, yours is damaged and you say 1 min, on top of that she says on phone...
'Arey kuch nahi, kisine gadi ko thoka.'
WWWWTF... I mean she jumped lane taking on the phone without giving a indicator and she says, kisine gadi ko thokaa???Is this some kinda joke???
So when the traffic pandu came and saw the thing he blabbered in marathi,
'Jau dya, stratchach ahe...kai motha nai...nigha... rasta mokla kara,' (Just move on, only a stratch. Clear the road.)
I felt so angry...so helpless...I mean the moment someone sees a pretty woman...he melts??
Ok whats the point of this post? Nothing...am just angry...grrrrr

India vs the world!!!
This post is NOT a reaction to the attacks in Australia, but on is a reaction to the reactions in India on the attacks. I cannot comment on the attacks on Indians because I am not sure of the cause of the attacks and I really won't jump to the conclusion from media reports.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been avoiding posting on this topic since long, but now I cannot wait any more. We know Indian media is a big idiot box, the authenticity of news shown on channels is just 1% and that is also a lucky break.
But making the world hate Indians all the more?? Why are you making Indians everywhere ashamed??
Why is Indian media so negatively reporting the news of Aussies hating Indians, racism etc??? Do they really knows whats happening??
Why do we always feel the world is against us??? Do the Indian media even have the brain or did they sell it as well along with their soul???
Bal Thackaray and the shiv sainiks burned effigy of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in protest... oh puh lease...Thakaray, get a life man...you have never been outside mumbai to endanger the life of Indians in Aussie by burning the prime minister effigy. Yeah, don't give me the thing about Shiv Sainiks, my uncle is one and I know what Ass H*le he is.
Every country have racist, Shiv Sainiks are racist themself, do we see them burn the effigy of Bal Thakaray???
One or two incident in a country and you call that country a racist??? There are 80,000 Indian students on Australian campus and we call the country a racist due to one or two incident??
The media is also flagging things calling the whole country a racist. The media simply jumps on the bandwagon, 'The world hate Indians' and start reporting it and yes, exclusive reports you see.
Be rational people, don't make life misrable for Indians living out there by already it is.
If Shiv Sainiks really care, go down to Australia nab the punks who are causing this issues and show your patriotism...of wait, why should they go??? Patriotism is just creating a voting issue out of nothing, right?? Going to australia is not going to serve the purpose...do NRI's have voting right?? Hota toh yeh bhaag ke jate... do they even have money to go out of mumbai???
A quote from Zee News
“There is a problem with Indian media and Indian leadership - they can't assess a situation in a rational way. It's the high competition in that industry. They all get on the bandwagon and say 'Oh racism', but it's not like that,” said Yadu Singh, a Sydney resident. "Something like this happens and they think: ‘The whole world is against us’. This is not a racist country. Every country has one or two racists. I mean, burning effigies of Kevin Rudd -- come on,” Singh added. www.zeenews.Some media adds that Australia students want Indian leave, ok right, make 80,000 people leave and take your country's economy take a nose dive into the quicksand of recession.
For brain drain, if you are a Indian student and wish to study abroad, i'll suggest dude, koi bhaav nahi deta yaha, your work, your experience is more important that what you study. Just due to loose attraction you think studying abroad is good, then think and analyze before you leave. Just getting a foriegn degree is not going to get you a high paying job.
In the recession backed world, India is fairing nicely with the economy, so you are better in your own country. If still, you wish to study abroad and have no worry for mortal threat, then you can as well think what course to study and if you can really afford it.
Last point, please avoid negative reporting people, such negative reporting is going to be a backlash for Indians living in the land of OZ.
Tommorrow: Are Indians really safe in their own country as well??
What next???

Am I proud to be an Indian???
The other day I glanced at the Civics textbook of a school boy (I have no idea what class it was) and I found a statement in that book, 'India is a country with unity in diversity,' a immediate thought churned in my brain... is it??? Do we have unity in diversity???I don't think so... my parents have dutifully rejected my North-Indian girlfriend and are busy dialing in some meddlers to look for a appropriate mate in out caste????
Raj Thackeray and his cronies want the jobs for Marathi youth back.
Why??
Because they live in the same geography!!!
Well, this is not only case...Lalu wants Bihari population get jobs in Railways.
Why??
The youth have are jobless and it is his duty to take care of his crowd!!!!
OBC (or any caste for that matter) want reservation for them, why because they are backward, underdeveloped, underprivileged???
Why??
Because for some pre-Independence period during sometime, with no proper historical records, they were oppressed by higher tribes!!!
There are people in Kashmir who wish their own independence.
Why??
Because they are a different culture than the rest of us.
I don't think people are to blame, they are forces here in India that is causing these drift and clashes in cultures. There are many hidden agendas behind the political parties claiming to be secular in nature but are just employing divide and rule policy of British Raj in India.
When we say we are a unity in diversity we should be proud of our culture. Now we are 26 states in India and its about time we become the 26 states of India and rise above the cultural, caste, religion and regional prejudice.
I am proud to be an Indian....I hope you are too.

X-men Origins: Wolverine- Review

Of all the X-men movies, comics, cartoons this is one flick that has all powerful mutants and not some Gandhi-giri inspired non-violent X-men kids. I mean a movie that has Wolverine, Sabertooth (how can anyone miss him in wolverine movie??), Gambit, Wraith (Too bad to see him die so soon), Dead Pool, Zero (never known him before), Blob (Woo hoo) all together in one team is awesome isn't it?
But hey to be frank I am disappointed by the movie, as a true believer and a wolverine fan, I thought they would adopt the story line from comics series Wolverine: origin, where Sabertooth is called The Dog again, no mention of my James Howett changes his name to Logan (in comics it is Rosie who does that)
The retracing claws is a gift from wolverines mother, or so was in comics...but here she claims he is a monster....how sad!!!
Ok enough comparing the whole thing, but seriously if you have seen the Tyger Tyger poem in Comics you will never like the movie in the first place!!!
So anyways, this movie shows wolverine as James Howett and he kills Thomas Logan with his claws. During the initial credit Victor Creed (Sabertooth) and he fight many battles together (remember wolverine fought World War I, World War II and many more for many countries). Then we come to Weapon-X program and they fill titanium in his bones making him indestructable. (Again a disappointment, in the comics he is less than animal when they fill titanium ripping and mass-murdering the whole facitlity around 200-300 soldiers. Here he barely kills one guard and runs away)
The killing of deadpool is an awesome scene and good to see Wolverine and Sabertooth fight back to back against it. When was deadpool weapon XI?? I don't recall, as far as I remember Weapon XI was different than deadpool, but hey in movies its all rip-off right??
So, if you do not read comics (pity on you) then you can go and watch the movie and gap at the stunts, the story etc etc. (Yeah see the bike, copter chase of Zero and Wolvering its worth it) but if you are a true believer in Wolverine and have followed him in Wolverine:Origin till Wolverine: The end, you will be disappointed to the core!!!
My rating: 6/10
