[Short Story] Winds of Change

This post has been published by me as a part of Blog-a-Ton 56 ; the fifty-sixth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. There are moments that come in time-traveller's life when he has to look over his entire existence and asks himself - Is this it? Is this the moment when you determine if you are in the right time-stream? Look, those who do not know time-travel, here are the basics- in space we can travel. We can go from point  A  to point  B  in private vehicles, public transport or even just walking. It's easy, you learn it when you are 3 or 4 years. The first time you crawled from the end of the room to the arms of your parent you feel, this is it , this is your biggest achievement. But then in the next few years, your parent take you to a garden and then you think... woah, can I run from one end to another? Sure you can, you try that and you feel good about it. You try to tumble, you try to crawl, you know d...

The Prophecy of Indian Railways

The thing about prophecies is, they tend to start a war more than prevent it. If Kansa never heard the prophecy of Krishna we would never see the battle. If Voldemort never knew about the potter boy, we would be saved seven horrible movies. But the thing about prophecies is that they exist. Over the period of time, I have come to believe that someone somewhere is jotting down prophecies about me in an language illegible by human. You know something is amiss, and bam that thing is amiss right then and there. There is not a single moment of doubt in my mind about the prophecy of railway and me. Murphy had once said, if there is a fifty-fifty chance of getting something right, there is a ninety percent guarantee you will get it wrong. During my junior college days there are people who sleep on the railway platform who used to watch me run after a train almost every day. Sometimes I even ran after it from front. This made one day, a homeless guy come towards me and said, 'You...

The Last Rock On Which Universe Collapses

Seven million light years away from my home planet and here he was, drifting across the cosmos. Feeding on the anti-matter energies in this single spaceship he had reached here were everyone would like to reach. Heaven. Was this heaven? He did not know but it surely did not look like it. In his front was the debris of the universe, a large chunk of astroid that contained nothing but dust and rocks. Spread across miles this uncharted space in the universe this bedrock was the final resting place for anyone going beyond. For beyond this rock rest the vast openness... the end of the universe. The astroid had no physical properties, it had no mass, no height, no breath nothing. It simply was. He landed his spaceship carefully on the rocks or as careful as he could crash. This is it, he thought, mankind giant leap. He smirked, about 2000 years ago, humans had landed on the moon and though that was their greatest achievement. He knew the drill, what the humans always did to find n...

To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton . The theme for this month is BLACK AND WHITE. He was called the Rook, his real name long forgotten in the dunes of time. He kept asking since childhood, Why me? No one had the answer. No one cared to answer him. Any normal person would be scared to walk the blackest corridor at the odd hour of the night but he had no fear. He kept asking since childhood, Why me? No one had the answer. No one dared to answer him. The sudden light from the vehicle could blind any normal person, but he kept walking. Why me? He asked everyone till his voice hurt, no one had an answer for him no one except, "Rumi... Father Rumi," his cold rough voice echoed in the darkness. "Who is it?" Rumi could not see him in dark, "Come forward." ...
